Today I "went to work" though I don't count it as back for good because all I have is today and tomorrow of a very helpful training to institute Daily 5 and Cafe in my classroom. I "tried" them last year but not fully and don't think I really understood how they worked so I am so excited to receive grades 4 - 5 specific training and can't wait to plan with my new partner, Marly, all the exciting ways we will use this in our classes!
I came home and Andy was already home from his first day of 2 - a -days. He is officially "back in the saddle!" It was precious because Eleanor ran to the door to greet me only to tell me she straightened Daddy's hair and wanted to do mine as well ha! She is such a girl! Yesterday she told me my pencil skirt I wore to church was my "ballerina skirt" and asked me to "twoll" (twirl). I love how girly my daughter is!
Tonight I made an Asian mean for Andy to start his first day back to work. He loves that kind of food. I made a wonton soup and followed the directions completely with the exception of the wontons because I already had some filled with chicken/cilantro I had purchased at Costco. I also made my favorite PF Changs lettuce wrap copycat recipe and fried rice with the exorbitant amount if broccoli I had left from the other night, edamame, and water chestnuts. It was delicious but so filling!
This back to work sure does lend itself to the routine I have so craved all summer though. I got my workout in at 5:15 to start my day and it is 6:15pm and we have already finished dinner and Andy is bathing E. I love our schedule - let's just hope we can keep it up. Now for some motivation to get those daily chores complete before falling into bed!
Katie will be here with E for the second day in a row tomorrow - we are so thankful to have her around to help with our sweet goose!

6.18.12 Signing Our Lives Away! Day 15 70 DOS
It finally happened! But first...I had an amazing morning/early afternoon in my Jeff Anderson Writing Training. He is awesome and gave me so many tips on how to teach writing in the classroom. He based the training off of his most recent book which you see to the side. I also was shown a new website I LOVE (thank you Marly) - goodreads! It is an amazing way to see what your friends are reading and see their ratings on those things along with writing ratings on books you have read AND making a "to read" list. I don't think mine will ever get shorter as I keep finding so many awesome books to read! Friend me on goodreads so I can see what you are reading too! Also, if you are an ELA teacher, check out Jeff Anderson's books - I have also read Everyday Editing and have Mechanically Inclined on my desk to read next! He has some inventive approaches to teaching writing!
I left this informative conference excitedly and headed to the title office to SIGN the paperwork to get our new house! It was so fun "signing our life away" and I will say that my stomach dropped when I saw the maturation date of the loan - 2042! Oh dear! Hopefully we will pay it off before then! Otherwise, Andy and I will be 57 and 58 by the time we have a paid off house! AGH! Here is the corny pic I made our realtor take...we are so excited about tomorrow - we will actually receive the keys and can get in and get started working on everything! Praise God that the home buying process has neared its end!

Hurricane "Summer"
Yes this Hurricane's name is Summer, not Katrina. We have not stopped and I think the eye of the storm is approaching, hopefully before it is all over! I am almost more tired now than I was when it began but we have been so blessed to pack as many family members and sites to see in these weeks of no school as we possibly could and though it has been tiring, it has been so wonderful. I wish I could post my calendar on here but just to give you an idea, will list where we have been and who we have seen since school let out.
School was out June 3rd for me. That night, we left Eleanor with my parents and went on a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Retreat. We had been urged by both our parents to go and really enjoyed it as it definitely opened up a completely new way to communicate with each other. It was exhausting though as we were both already dead from the end of the school year only to not get much sleep on the weekend and then if you have ever been on a retreat know how refreshing yet exhausting they can be.
Andy went to school for his last day that Monday the 6th also being requested to interview at Carrollton Ranchview High School for a Varsity Football/Head Track Coach position. WOW, to have to close up school and then go to not just any interview but one that required him to write an essay on the spot and that was very strenuous ONLY to have to come home to a psycho nagging wife who needed his help packing because our flight left the next morning at 8am to see his grandparents! WOW what a champ and what a lot to cram into one day. He ended up getting the job and well that is a whole different post!
Tuesday the 7th, we flew to Midland/Odessa airport and then drove 2 hours to Ft. Davis to visit Andy's dad's parents and siblings. We had a wonderful time, returned on Friday June 10th (almost already halfway through the month of June and we haven't spent anytime at home ha).
The week we returned was booked with doctor and dentist appointments along with Andy spending lots of hours up at his new school getting to know his new coaching staff and working with his new football players. We were, however, able to fit in some fun with our friends, the Vaniceks! We also celebrated Andy's second Fathers Day that weekend and ended it with a huge Mexican feast of his request, homemade and fried tostadas and fajitas with my family in attendance as well.
The following week on Tuesday the 21st of June, Eleanor and I left for Houston to brave the wildfires on I45 (yes we saw smoke on the side of the rd. but apparently were in no danger as the highway was open) and visit our friends and Eleanor's godparents, the Wentrceks, and the Tantons. Andy spent the week moving his old classroom at Renner (so sad he is leaving Plano but excited for his new job) to our garage and painting the locker room of the new High School. We had a wonderful time there and then headed home only to have to rush to clean house because my inlaws were to arrive the next day! AH yes see what I mean, hurricane, it never stops!
We had so much fun with Andy's parents and brothers, Tim and Mark. We swam, ate lots of food, and even made it to Grapevine Mills to do some shopping and allow Mark and Eleanor to create their first "Build a Bears." The Reinbergs left in time for me to have two days to do laundry, straighten up the house so we would have something nice to come home to, and do last minute things like exchange our brand new camera that wasn't working oh and buy my first Iphone because my old faithful of a blackberry decided to drown in the deep abyss of the whirlpool at the nail salon oh and one more thing, PACK for the three week trip we were leaving for on the 1st of July!
WOW - as if I didn't think the day would ever come/I would be ready when it did, we loaded the suburban at mom and dads and finished around midnight late on the 30th of June. Just before we hit the sack to wake up in a few hours and make the LONG trek out East, Dad suggested just loading up and going. Boy were we happy we did that. Eleanor slept a lot of that night and we arrived in DC (our first stop on the journey East) a day early. The 22 hour trip went fairly well and we had so much fun celebrating Independence Day in our nation's capital and most importantly with our sweet family (mom's brother and fam) who we rarely see.
So vacation had commenced and you would think vacation=relaxation. Not quite. My dear husband brings out the love of history in me. Pair his desire to see every monument, battlefield, and historical site he reads about in his history book with the fact has has never been to the northeast and you have a pretty exhausting itenerary. We went to almost every monument in DC, a few Smithsonians, the Capital/White House, and a few battlefields. We had so much fun but were so wiped out!
After that, we enjoyed a weekend in Baltimore with my dad's family and LOVED attending the wedding of and meeting my cousin's new husband, LJ. Still, no relaxation as we scampered to each wedding event and social gathering while sleeping in a hotel room and poor Eleanor being dragged everywhere.
That brings me to now. We are at my Aunt Gay's house in Pinehurst, NC to visit her family and my 95 year old grandmother, Grandmary (dad's mom). Today, I did get to sleep in and though I haven't stopped since I woke up and went running with my sweet "1st cousin once removed" (i learned this to be the title since we have been here...she is my cousin's daughter), we are enjoying ourselves! Andy played golf with everyone on my aunt and uncle's course whose 17th hole is visible from their back porch - don't worry, we brought them beer when they arrived at the hole ha! Grandmary taught me how to make her famous Maryland crabcakes and we indulged in an awesome east coast pizza chain for dinner.
Tomorrow we head to the pottery stores and Andy and Dad are off to golf again. I hope to get some time to spend with Grandmary and catch up as I haven't done that in quite a while! We will pack the car again and commence into the dark night for another 12+ hour drive to Perdido Key, Florida, near Pensacola tomorrow night. We are ALL hoping for the relaxation we have been craving this vacation once we arrive. We have decided we are doing NOTHING but passing out on the beach...well and taking turns playing with Eleanor in the sand (let's hope she is not interested in eating it). I have so many books I brought to read and well it would be nice to sleep some too!
I will add some of the, don't worry, 1000+ pictures we have taken to the post and future posts I am sure once uploaded on my home comp. Until then, let's hope this "Hurricane Summer" blows over soon and we get a little bit of relaxation in before school starts because crazily enough, there are only a few weeks left before that happens YIKES!!!!

School Days are Over...For Now...
What a whirlwind of a year - teaching three new subjects (Math, Science, TAKS Writing) and a new grade (4th). A new team, and a new type of kid - a 4th grader at the beginning of the year is a teeny 3rd grader...very different from a 5th grader. None of these "new" things were bad, I ended up loving them all, well maybe not loving all of them...definitely having a new appreciation for them...just being honest :)
Just in case I wasn't getting too comfortable, my principal decided to ask me to move to another new grade - 6th grade! I am so excited to teach World History and Reading. I will be departmentalized and will also be teaching Science to my homeroom. I am also blessed to have the opportunity to teach with my friend, Catherine, again. We taught 5th grade together two years ago. So as the commercial for whatever that product says I guess, "Change is good."
I am so excited to spend this summer with my sweet baby and husband. We have a LOT to pack into one summer, you will be hearing more about it in future posts. SO to quote another, and might I add the fervor and excitement in my voice when saying, "SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!!!"

Buying Bright Colorful Bags = Helping My Impoverished School
OK so maybe impoverished is a bit harsh but I work at a "Title 1" School and the way to qualify for that is to have 40% or more of your students considered "low income" and on free/reduced lunch. We have A LOT more than 40%. Most of my students, in fact all but one, are on free and reduced lunches.
That being said, we don't have a lot of monetary support coming from our families which is understandable but also means that a lot of the responsibility in coming up for money for supplies, field trips, school parties falls on the school and in many cases, the teachers themselves.
We have quite a few fundraisers each year to help support our school but they never yield too much aid as the people our children sell to are usually in the same position as their own families and aren't able to spend extra money on cookie dough, wrapping paper, whatever else a fundraising company comes up with.
I have always wanted to offer those products to my friends/family but resisted as, honestly, in the case of the cookie dough and pies, wouldn't buy them myself. This was until our newest fundraiser arrived...MIXED BAGS.
These bags we are selling are made of basically the same material you would see on a tarp. They are washable and very durable, you can literally "hose them down". They come in adorable patterns and all different sizes. This is my favorite, their "hold everything" bag, I like the Damask print, this link takes you there: http://www.mixedbagdesigns.com/Shop-By-Style-Retail/Hold-Everything_10/Tuxedo-Damask-Hold-Everything

They are also in favor of the "green movement" as they sell the famous grocery bags (but much bigger and more durable than those you see at the groc.) and these really awesome snack pouches that you can put a sandwich, some carrots, or cheerios, etc. in, in lieu of the many ziplocks (my family at least) goes through a week packing lunches. Here is the link to one of the designs: http://www.mixedbagdesigns.com/Shop-By-Style-Retail/Foodies/Beach-Ball-Foodies-Set-of-2 Their lunch sacks are also insulated and easy to wipe down!

On the grocery bag note...a lot of these bags are cloth/polyester and must be machine washed. If you own some of these purchased at your favorite local grocery store, you hopefully wash them as they can easily become contaminated. The annoying part is having to put them in the washer and letting them air dry and using up all the water a load of laundry uses. With the MIXED BAG grocery bag, you can literally squirt some dish soap in, hose and scrub it down, and then wipe it dry with a towel. I also noted that it is much bigger and more durable than any of the other grocery bags I have purchased (mine came from Whole Foods, Kroger, and Market Street to name a few who roped me into buying them...).
I am telling you this so that you can be educated about what I think is a super worthy and of course also cute and fun product and if you are interested, request you check it out so to support my school! You can view them on their website: http://www.mixedbagdesigns.com/ but DO NOT ORDER THEM THRE. Aikin will not get credit for bags ordered online. You will have to order from me and we would appreciate greatly if you did! You may email me at lindsay.reinberg@risd.org if you are interested! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Formula and Other Things
My baby girl is getting her first exposure to formula today :( I am really sad about it bc I have worked so hard to pump and make sure she had enough but something happened with the traveling and everything last weekend and we came up short a few ounces for this week. I am trying not to stress about it bc she will still be getting predominantly breast milk but I just loved that with the exception of her shots and reflux meds that she was still pure and didnt have anything manufactured with names I can't pronounce put in her. I am not saying that I think formula is bad because I know some babies have to go on it but she is doing so well nursing and I just hate to do this bc no matter what breast milk is best for her and cheapest for us ha! The fact is though, that we are out of milk so I have no choice :( So I am sitting here pumping hoping that I will make enough and this formula supplementation will just be a temporary thing...I am not pumping as much as she eats though and she is starting to act like we starve her again which makes me think we need to up her to a 7 oz. bottle now...
So that is the latest in the Reinberg household...that and football, exhaustion and pining for a few days off (Thanksgiving) to breathe/ not think about disciplining children who aren't my own and teaching them the life lessons their parents should be/spend time with Eleanor, and making it :) I have Monday off (poor Andy has to work) and am going with the Vaniceks to take some pics at the Arboretum and let the girls (Katie and Eleanor) have their first encounter with pumpkins! SO FUN! :)
This post is probably gramatically incorrect due to my laziness and prob. sounds a little negative...sorry! I just wanted to make sure and remember the date on which my wonderful job kept me from being able to feed my daughter...LOVE IT!
On a more positive note...Kelsey AND MEA are coming into town this weekend for both the Baylor/TTU game and the A&M/Ark. game. I am so excited to get to see them both and for our family to hopefully spend some time together Sunday before they have to go home. I am also excited to meet Keekda's roommate - Erica, from Scotland! :) Eleanor is excited to see her aunts but misses Katie as we do as well. We love you Aunt Kitter!

What Happened to my BACKGROUND!?
Ok so something happened to my old bg...don't know what but searching for a new one isn't a priority over ironing, grading papers, lesson plans, and keeping the house clean so unfortunately I had to pick this boring one from blogger to tide us over...oh well at least it is pink...my signature color!
Sitting here with the hubs watching the Cowboys lose their first game of the season when we both should be in bed...another week ahhh...I hope my kids are good and I REALLY hope a certain kid takes his meds tomorrow if you know what I mean...I LOVE 4th grade! No I am enjoying it I just have what can be quite the challenging class some days...the PE coach summed it up when I picked my kids up from PE Friday and he had a laundry list of things they did wrong and directions they didn't follow when he said, "You just can't catch a break, can you?"
Ok so this wasn't supposed to be a real post bc if it was I would be talking about my sweet little Eleanor who btw is just the coolest and sweetest little person ever and not my little delinquents. Anyway, headed to bed, hopefully will fix this background and catch the blogging world up on the Reinberg beautiful mess soon!
Peace and goodnight! :) PS the cowboys just scored with 3 secs left and it looked like it was recalled bc idiot #71 choked a redskin...this is going to be a good season...

"Late" Night Post

Late night post! I was sitting in bed wishing Andy wouldn't have to work so late thinking back to my old "late night posts" when I would get up to pee and wish I was going into labor! I don't know why I keep trying to re-live Eleanor's birth in my head, I just guess I loved that time! It is so amazing though how each day with Ellie gets better and better. I find myself always saying "THIS is my favorite phase in her life," and then a few days later she will top it!
School has started and I am exhausted. I don't know which was more tiring....right now or being pregnant this time last year...good thing this won't be paired with throwing up at least once a day this year! Anyway, I am adjusting to teaching 4th grade...it is amazing how one year younger brings a completely different bunch of kids. They just seem and really ARE so young! More to come later but since I am posting...may as well put an updated pic of my sweet baby :)

How the time is flying...school already!?
So I decided to look through my blogs and realized I had 2 or 3 posts I never posted so feel free to read below the current posts.
Anyhow, I start my first day of full work tomorrow. I think I am so tired and overwhelmed about it all that I haven't had the time to be sad...I am sure it will hit me soon...God be with us! I just keep thinking in the back of my head - why isn't it May again? I want to start this journey with my little girl all over again! :)
Speaking of, Eleanor is turning 3 months old on the 18th of August! Crazy how time flies! Here is my little bug - we didn't have the camera - it was at Marmi's so we had to rely on the Iphone.

We FINALLY have a Blog!
So after many months of reminders from friends to start a Reinberg blog, we are finally listening! So much has happened this first year of our marriage. We were married July 18th, 2009 in Dallas at our parish, St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell, TX. It was the best day of our lives that will be remembered forever. It is hard to imagine the feeling of love we experienced having everyone, family and friends, all in town at the same time, all there to witness us celebrate the sacrament of marriage, and all gathered for a SUPER fun party afterwards.
After such a wonderful evening we woke up Sunday morning and spent the afternoon at the Aldon's eating a family favorite - Sweet Meats (the best bar-b-que ever tasted) and visiting with family and friends on their way out of town. That evening we went back to our apartment for the first time and ate cheese, crackers, and drank champagne while we unwrapped presents. The weekend couldn't get any better!
Monday morning we flew out to paradise and landed in Maui, arriving to our hotel just in time to see a Maui sunset. We enjoyed food, beautiful scenery, and much needed relaxation, just the two of us. If anyone needs restaurant suggestions in Maui, please ask as we found quite a few we LOVED and crave often. After being in Maui for 5 days we satisfied our thirst for History and went to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor. We enjoyed Pearl Harbor and seeing another part of Hawaii but decided Maui was our favorite place to visit! After 7 days in God's beautiful creation, we came home to an apartment needing some love and lots of work at school.
After a quick few days of unpacking and "merging" Lindsay's and Andy's things, Lindsay went straight to 12 hour days at school setting up her classroom and re-familiarizing herself with 5th grade Reading/Language Arts/Social Studies after being out of the education arena for 2 years.
At the same time, Andy went straight to the football field coaching 2 practices a day and preparing for what we seemingly revolve our fall around: FOOTBALL SEASON!
The 2 weeks of inservice, making a classroom cozy, and 2-a-days flew by quickly and our blissful beginning to marriage changed to school craziness. As if our lives hadn't changed enough, we got another BIG surprise a few weeks after the beginning of school. Just before leaving for a weekend at the lake Labor Day weekend, we took a certain test and were shocked by the plus signs consistently appearing on the 4 consecutive tests taken. Lindsay spent the weekend exhausted and nauseas unable to partake in the wonderful lake beverages while Andy had enough for the both of them celebrating in secret the new addition that would, in 9 months, make the 2 Reinbergs 3!
After getting a confirmation from the Dr., we told our families. A famous line from an old favorite, "We wanted to tell you when you were together, but you're never together." (Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias) summed up our revelation. Mom was in Houston with Grandma and Grandpa so we called her and told her in the parking lot of Anamias, an Aldon Mexican Restaurant Fave, just before joining Tom, Katie, Mary, and Kelsey for dinner and subsequently telling them. When we called Andy's parents, everyone was on speaker and Andy's dad was so excited he couldn't speak!
The status quo of nausea and once a day vomiting remained so until right about Thanksgiving - perfect timing! The holidays flew past and were marked with Andy giving Lindsay the newly revealed baby GIRL's name. I wonder if the Aldons will ever get a boy, poor Tom is still praying. 'Nell is finally getting another girl to add to the male dominant Reinberg family. Anyway, Andy and Eleanor Ann gave Lindsay a piece of Christmas china and revealed Andy's accpetance of the name Lindsay just loved. We wished we could have sent out Christmas cards but maybe this blog entry will suffice as an update!
Already being 4 months into 2010, it is hard to believe that our little "Ellie" will be here in 4 weeks or less! We can't wait to meet her and look forward to a hopefully relaxing summer enjoying our little princess. In the meantime we patiently wait to hold our little one, are moving to an apartment closer to "Marmi" (Lindsay's mom who will be watching Eleanor next year) and once again making it home. Andy is closing out another track season while Lindsay is counting down the days to maternity leave. We thank everyone for their constant prayers and support and can't wait to introduce Eleanor to all those we love.
